About Us

Hospice of Huntington, Inc., is a non-profit agency has been helping people living with serious, life-limiting illnesses since 1982. We serve families in Cabell, Lincoln, Mason and Wayne counties in West Virginia, as well as Lawrence, Meigs and Gallia counties in Southern Ohio.

Hospice is a special way of caring for people who are terminally ill and involves a variety of comfort-oriented services to meet the patient’s unique physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Services are delivered with the goal of helping patients live the remainder of their life to the fullest extent possible. Our services are also focused on alleviating the responsibilities of caregiving for family members and helping them prepare for and cope with the loss of their loved one.

Our History

Hospice of Huntington, Inc. was founded in 1982 by Laura Darby, a senior nursing student from Marshall University, who had a passion for hospice care. As the first hospice in the State of West Virginia to become Medicare certified, we have remained a leader in hospice care for over 40 years.
